MARUJA is one of the most exciting new bands from the UK. Formed in Manchester, the band blends post-punk, jazz, noise rock, and elements of hip-hop to create an intense, genre-defying sound described as ‘jazz-punk’ . Their music is a blend of raw energy, improvisation, and socially conscious lyrics – addressing social tensions, politics, and the experiences of the contemporary generation.
Maruja released their debut album “Pain to Power” in 2025, cementing their status as one of the most important new voices on the alternative scene. The band’s live shows are an extreme experience – intense, improvised, and full of emotional tension. The British band has won acclaim from media outlets including BBC 6 Music and NME, as well as from audiences at festivals and on tours worldwide, building a reputation as a band whose performances are hard to compare to anything else. Maruja will perform on the ERGO Hestia Theatre Stage – a stage known for its unconventional line-ups, which often turn out to be musical gems.
