At the third edition, thousands of participants enjoyed concerts by Franz Ferdinand, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard with orchestra, The Kills, Baxter Dury and Royel Otis, among others. The festival will return on 13–14 November 2026.
‘Inside Seaside you’re so f*cking gorgeous’ – this was the message displayed by Royel Otis, who closed the Gdańsk Stage on the first day with their intense guitar music, paraphrasing the lyrics of their song ‘Sofa King’. It is worth noting that Otis Pavlovic sang it wearing a cap with the word ‘Gdańsk’ on it.
The audience filled the halls to capacity throughout the weekend – at the mesmerising concert by Baxter Dury, who captivated the festival not only with his lyrics and music, but also with his unique dance moves. At the concert by The Kills, it was difficult to take your eyes off the charismatic Alison Mosshart. The culmination of the festival and the record crowd gathering was the concert by Franz Ferdinand, a cult band for many. So it had to end with everyone singing ‘Take Me Out’ together. Another highlight was the concert by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, who performed one of their four European concerts with an orchestra at Inside Seaside – in this case, the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.
‘We have the sea within us,’ commented Natalia Przybysz on the name of the festival, presenting a lyrical take on soul in very energetic arrangements. Altin Gun warmed up the packed ERGO Hestia Theatre Stage with their crazy take on psychedelic rock mixed with Turkish tradition. Sigrid encouraged everyone to dance, and the audience at the Gdańsk Stage couldn’t stand still. Kosmonauci and Pink Freud showed how to play uncompromising, unrestrained jazz, but there were also atmospheric moments – Yana took everyone into her world at the Alior Bank UPstage, as did Ścianka with their concert featuring a seventeen-piece band.
Speaking of large ensembles, the performance of the Boleros Y Masecki ensemble was both moving and warming, taking us to the warm rhythms of Latin America, and the Tri-City’s take on funk and soul, performed by Cinnamon Gum. The Pill played cheeky punk rock, Liana Flores played lyrically, and Baasch played dance music.
This year, the festival expanded to include a fourth hall. If it seemed that there were a lot of people in the Radio 357 Conversation Zone during previous editions, now the record has been broken: meetings with Urszula Dudziak, Marek Niedźwiecki, and Piotr Stelmach, Przemek Staroń, Katarzyna Błażejewska-Stuhr and Maciej Stuhr, and Janusz Panasewicz.
The festival participants showed that music is important to them not only on stage – in the festival Cinema, the screenings of ‘The World’s Stupidest Album’ about the band Kury and ‘Stop Making Sense’ about Talking Heads were packed to the rafters from the early hours, and extra chairs had to be brought in for the next batch of eager viewers. Crowds participated in the Poster Fair and Fashion Zone, and the large T-shirts painted by Maciek Salamon were the best proof of the social experience of music – written in their entirety, they created an intimate yet collective souvenir of the event.
In specially created areas for the festival, participants admired the visual arts – this was the case at the Wildness by Artystyczna Podróż exhibition and at Relax. Break in Transmission. The latter was dedicated to rest, because that is what Inside Seaside is all about. This was facilitated by the space of the Świetlica and Food Hall, or 100cznia, on the way out, where you could meet your friends amid unusual scenery. And that is what the Gdańsk festival is all about.
