The Streets

THE STREETS, Mike Skinner’s project, broke the mould of British music back in 2002 with the groundbreaking album “Original Pirate Material”, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and is now regarded as one of the most important releases of the 21st century. The album permanently changed the sound of UK garage, hip-hop, and spoken word, and its influence remains evident to this day.

The follow-up release – the cult classic “A Grand Don’t Come For Free” from 2004, which debuted at number one on the UK charts – spawned breakthrough singles such as “Dry Your Eyes”, “Fit But You Know It” and “Blinded By The Lights”.

It was this conceptual album – telling a story of love, chaos, and everyday life – that firmly established Mike Skinner’s position as one of the most distinctive and authentic voices on the British scene. His work combines humor, melancholy, and social observation with a unique literary sensibility. Over the years, The Streets have released a number of albums, collaborating with leading figures on the British scene – from Kano and Giggs to Fred again.. and Greentea Peng.

At Inside Seaside, we’ll hear “A Grand Don’t Come For Free” performed live in its entirety – as a complete, cinematic narrative, exactly as it was originally conceived. The audience will be able to immerse themselves in this story from start to finish, experiencing its emotional intensity and Skinner’s characteristic honesty and ironic humor. The concert program will also feature key tracks from The Streets’ entire catalog.
