Altın Gün

Altın Gün are a genre-defying band from Amsterdam that seamlessly blend traditional Turkish folk with psychedelic rock, funk, and electronic elements. Their name – which means “Golden Day” – captures the vivid, kaleidoscopic nature of their sound: a fusion of retro warmth and modern energy, rooted in cultural heritage but made for contemporary ears. The group formed out of a fascination with Anatolian rock and Turkish folk legends like Barış Manço, Selda Bağcan, and Erkin Koray. Rather than merely covering these classics, Altın Gün reinterpret them through a danceable, groove-heavy lens, infusing them with analog synths, tight rhythms, and an undeniable psych-rock flair. Their debut On (2018) introduced their unique sonic identity, but it was Gece (2019) that earned them a Grammy nomination and launched them onto the global stage. Festival appearances at Coachella, Roskilde, and Primavera Sound followed, with live shows that hypnotize audiences in a swirl of saz solos, funky basslines, and pulsating energy.
