Cinema at Inside Seaside

Floor 1, Cinema Zone

We invite you to unique screenings at the Inside Seaside Cinema, where music plays a leading roleOur film guests include Marcin Masecki, Łona, and Gaba Kulka.

From the very beginning, Cinema at Inside Seaside has stood out for its focus on films in which music plays a leading role, whether through artists known from the stage or through unique soundtracks. The screenings are held in a silent cinema format, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the sound and image, experiencing them in the highest quality.

“This year’s ISS cinema continues the idea of showing music films created by artists known from the scene or those with special soundtracks,” says Beata Kwiatkowska from Radio 357, who puts together the film programme.

The Dumbest world record

dir. Jakub Knera, Konrad Kulczyński, 2025, 72 min
8 November, 3 p.m.

The film is an absurd, no-holds-barred journey into the heart of darkness of the 1990s, prepared with documentary precision. Released in 1998, P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S. was more than just an album by the band Kury – it was heralded as “a top-down mainstream biological weapon to spread the disease of Polish pop”. Its creators – musicians associated with the Tri-City and Bydgoszcz yass scene (including Ryszard Tymon Tymański, Piotr Pawlak, Jacek Olter, Olaf Deriglasoff, Jerzy Mazzoll, Leszek Możdżer, Grzegorz Nawrocki, Tomasz Gwinciński) – decided to completely transform the existing landscape of Polish music.

After the screening, a meeting with Piotr Pawlak and Konrad Kulczyński

Muse

reż. Paweł Pawlikowski, 2025, 6 min
8 listopada, godz. 18.00

Reżyser „Idy” i „Zimnej wojny” wraca z nowym, krótkometrażowym filmem, historią o sile inspiracji i postaci mistrza. Postać Maseckiego zwróci naszą uwagę na muzykę zawartą w filmie, a my o niej porozmawiamy z twórcami.

Kadr z filmu Ellis Park. Brodacz grający na skrzypcach.

Ellis Park

dir. Justin Kurzel, 2024, 104 min
8 November, 6 p.m.

The film tells the dual story of Warren Ellis – his life as a musician with bands such as Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Dirty Three, and his involvement in establishing a wildlife reserve in Sumatra to rescue animals victimized by trade and cruelty. The film is not limited to a classic biography – instead, it combines notes from Ellis’ musical journey with themes of nature conservation and the work of volunteers in difficult conditions. The film also shows a personal dimension – Ellis returns to his hometown of Ballarat, visits his parents, has conversations about the past, addictions, creativity, and the places that shaped him.

Stop making sense

dir. Jonathan Demme, 1984, 88 min
9 November, 3 p.m.

A cult concert film by Talking Heads, directed by Jonathan Demme. The film was made in December 1983, at the height of the band’s career, during the tour promoting their album Speaking in Tongues.

After the screening, a meeting with Baba Kulka

Hosted by: Beata Kwiatkowska (Radio 357)

Monday: Paprotka

dir. Adam "Łona" Zieliński, 2025, 15 min
9 November, 5 p.m.

Adam “Łona” Zieliński switches from a taxi to a successful lawyer’s car, but he still likes to listen to what we have to say to each other. Witnessing a telephone conversation between the lawyer and his enraged client, the director exposes the paradoxes of our communication, which often resemble the aggression-filled verbal exchanges of Fame MMA. However, Zieliński would not be himself if he did not try to convince us that a little cheerful distance is enough for the warring parties to agree on a draw, leave the ring, and talk about flowers that soften manners.

After the screening, a meeting with Łona

Hosted by: Beata Kwiatkowska (Radio 357)

Sirât

dir. Oliver Laxe, 2025, 115 min
9 November, 6 p.m.

Sirât is the most electrifying film of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it deservedly won the Jury Prize. The story of a father desperately searching for his daughter at illegal desert raves in Morocco is a wild combination of survival thriller, drama, and techno party. Kangding Ray’s music is like another character here, heightening the tension and helping to shake off the rather powerful viewing experience, after which nothing will be the same as before.

After the screening, a meeting with Baasch

Velvet Goldmine

Velvet Goldmine

dir. Todd Haynes, 1998, 120 min
7 November, 6 p.m.

Todd Haynes’s stylish, dazzling film is a tribute to the glam rock era of the 1970s, in the spirit of David Bowie and Roxy Music. Journalist Arthur Stuart tries to find out what happened to rock star Brian Slade, who disappeared after a famous hoax. As his investigation progresses, he discovers a world of extravagance, freedom, and sexual revolution. Velvet Goldmine is visually stunning, with music and costumes creating an electrifying atmosphere of rebellion and art.

The Musical is a satire on American pioneer myths and a preview of the rebellious style that later made the Parker-Stone duo famous.

Alice in Wonderland – an X-rated Musical

dir. Bud Townsend, 1976, 79 min
7 November, 11:59 p.m.

A controversial, erotic version of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale. Young Alice finds herself in a fantastical land where, instead of fairy-tale adventures, she encounters spicy encounters and adult-themed musical numbers. The film, which balances musical and erotic comedy, became a symbol of the experimental cinema of the 1970s, boldly crossing moral boundaries. Although shocking, it is also a parody of cultural taboos and classic literature.
